Another day of camp done, one more to go tomorrow.

Hmmm, how do I explain this.... 1) It's real hot over by Jane's desk. 2) They get a new swamp cooler today 3) Jane makes a fort out of the box it came in.

Natalie tests out the fort.

Sarah is also amused by all the Friday shenanigans that goes on in the office... or it just could have been the cocktails at lunch.

So we had another camp start yesterday, and today they went out to do some drills and skills in the grass. Everything has been going great this camp. In fact, we got out a little early tonight.

So early I was able to make it just in time to do the races at the track. The sunset was awesome! My racing was just so-so. I got 3rd in every race, but I guess getting 3rd to a former a world champ and someone else who just got top 10 at Tour de l'Aude is ok.

Hey, guess what? My sister, wee Donna, is coming to visit me next week. It should be awesome, since whenever we are together we revert back to being 12-years old, bicker and fight, and pull each other's hair.

So, the only thing I won today was the who provides the worst draft award (aka "who's the shortest?") With me in 1st, Little Dynamo Dombroski in 2nd, and former VC teammate Missy in 3rd.

Best news is I won the men's division too, although it was close.

In racing news, we had the crit and time trial today. Beth blazed it up in the crit, got off the front with a group, won the race and took a time bonus to move up a spot on the overall. Later in the afternoon, a hurricane blew in to Laramie, WY; it's name was Carol. Carol once again blew everyone away in the TT. Beth also did a fine ride to move up to 2nd overall, and Lisa held on to the final podium spot for 3rd.

Although we got Excelorized again this weekend, I think the team did a great job. We got two on the final podium, we won the crit, and perhaps the greatest victory of all is that the whole team survived my bad mood this weekend. Great job ladies (p.s. you have about 28 days until my next bad mood).

The End.

Last night we warmed up for the race with a little travel Scrabble. You know what, I suck at Scrabble. You know what else, Beth is very good at Scrabble.

Before the race, Anne made sure she knew where she was going by taping the entire race bible to her top tube.

After the race: Little D. Browski still hearts her chamois.

After the race I needed to drown my sorrows in beer. Please note that it was Bitch Beer. Not my choice, but someone else's.

Since I didn't want to drink and drive, I lent Beth the keys to my car. She was a little cramped.

So notice how I didn't blog about the race... that usually means I did bad, and I did. Lisa Lock-n- Load Matlock did great. She was in the break and ended up 2nd.

I went to visit Abby this afternoon on my ride and I found out her dog does the exact same thing my cats do all day.

Which is just stare out the window.

Since I was on the southwest side of town I decided to do the Broadmoor loop which reminded me of the good old days with good friend Gretchan who now lives in Portland. This was her favorite in-town loop.

There are some interesting things on this side of town.

"Hookah is not a type of illegal drug Michael"

Maybe we should have these guys do our riding kits next year.

No story, this was just one of the few interesting things I saw today.

So tonight was the first night I raced track this year. It's so much fun. I don't know why I screw around with road racing where you have to slog away for 3 hours before the excitement happens. In track racing, you get to sprint every few minutes and long races take like 15 minutes. A lot of races are even less than 5 minutes long. Screw riding around forever before anything good happens. In track racing, it's all good stuff happening.

So tonight I sandbagged and raced the C's points race. I got 2nd. Ok, before you bash me too hard for sandbaggging in the C's, the choice was the A/B Madison or the C's points race. Since the Madison often ends up like the picture above, I chose to do the points race. I love points racing. It's my absolutely favorite race of anything, track, road, crit, TT, you name it.

It's the FINAL COUNTDOWN. (please click on the pic below until I can figure out how to Youtube on this blog).

There are only 3 camps left this summer. That is 3 camps in the next 4 weeks, but this week is like half a camp or not even because I don't have to be here for it. Instead I get to go to Wyoming to race.... I think I'd rather be at camp.

Today was the Curtis Park Crit. While the course wasn't quite this tight, it wasn't much bigger than this. I think it was 6 turns in 0.6 miles. That's pretty tight.

While we didn't take the win today, Lisa did a fantastic ride to get second place.

Meanwhile, Carol did a fantastic job with the help of her friend Jenna and teammate Amy to defend her lead in the omnium. We retained 2nd and 3rd although Beth and I flip flopped positions at the end of the day. Although I'm bummed that neither Beth or I was able to overcome the force of the Hurricane, it was really great to see Carol win. She's a great competitor and always displays great sportsmanship.

Please note that although I am standing on the top step of the podium I am still way shorter than Carol.
=Later, we had a contest to see who was the tallest. Beth definitely wins, Carol in 2nd, with Lisa close behind in 3rd. .

Quote from Lisa "I'm just so thirsty, I just needed something to drink." Translation: "It tastes so good when it hit's your lips."

Today was the Hugo Road Race and stage 2 of the Rocky Mountain Omnium, and today I won the Hugo Road Race for the 3rd time. Also to note, I am undefeated at Hugo, as I have only raced it 3 times, so I am 3-fer-3 at Hugo.

The thing is, I win it the same way each time, which is attack as soon as soon as we hit the cross wind, and then TT (or 2-man TT) 40 miles to the finish. By the way, I do not recommend winning races that way because it's the hard way. At least today I had company, Trish from Rio Grande went with me in the break and she really drove it. The both of us ended up almost 3 minutes ahead of the field.

After the race, Amy refuels with a nasty, nearly rotted banana.

Beth's post race ritual is to clean bird poop off her car.

I almost forgot, I got TWO flats right before the start. I guess it was lucky that it was before. However, that's not my tire in the picture. That's Beth's tire and somehow she finished the race with her tire like that. She finished 4th, and now Beth and I are tied for 2nd in the overall omnium. We're 4 points behind the Hurricane and we will do our best to take the W tomorrow.

Today was day one of the Rocky Mountain Omnium. We did a TT, and I think this kid might have beat me because I went real slow. Carol, the Hurricane, Hutton went the opposite of slow and torched us all to take the win.

Happy Birthday L.L.!

Today is Caroline's 2nd birthday. Caroline, aka L.L. (Little Lisa, Little Liney, LL Cool C) is my niece and she was born in the year of Kentucky.

That is the year I spent with my sister and her family in Kentucky while she was pregnant with Caro and still had another in diapers. I'd have to say she turned out pretty darn cute, but after all, she does take after her Aunt Renee. Grandma Henri says so anyway.

So I've been working with the Front Rangers junior club on the track. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we have 10-15 juniors out on the track.

We work on a lot of basic skills like don't stop pedaling, turn left, and don't crash. Actually, most of them are pretty good bike handlers, and pretty fast too.

Today we worked on standing starts and team pursuit drills. Junior nationals are here in town in just a few weeks and I think a lot of these kids are going to give it a go. We'll definitely see a lot of these kids out on Thursday nights for our regular racing, so that'll be a lot of fun.

It's a blast working with these energetic kids. Plus I'm taller than a few of them (only the 11 year olds), so that's really the best part.

Since Beth swears by the Compex for recovery, I decided to give it a try last night. Basically is a muscle stimulator. I am unconvinced of it's effectiveness as I still had "bad legs" in today's race. Although I'm not sure if even a dose of Belgian mix could have helped me in today's crit.

I still feel as if I have molasses in my legs. I think it's a combo of working too much, training too little, and generally declining in to fattie mastersdom.

Even fueling up with some Moe's bagels didn't help.

So today's race didn't go as planned, as the plan is always for the team to win. Instead we were one upped (and two and three and four upped) by everyone else at the Ft. Collins crit today. I, however, did a great lead out for the 24-hour Fitness team on the last lap. Ooops!

You can read more about the day at Beth's blog here.

We did, however, go by the Twin Peaks mall in Longmont on the way to the race. This is the supposed place for the filming of the Back to the Future parking lot sequence, but that remains to be confirmed on Wikipedia.

**edit: confirmed, not the Twin Peaks mall, but instead the Twin Pines mall (in CA) which makes more sense.

Wake up! Time to go race. We raced so early this morning we got to see the sunrise.

Today was a real hard road race in Fort Collins. Beth did real good, she got 2nd. Lisa almost did real good, but she got a flat with 500 meters to go. I didn't do so good, I got dropped like a sack of potatoes on the 12 mile climb.

"Uhm, I have a question. Is this shitty t-shirt all I get for second place?"

Later, Beth recovers with her Compex while she watches Jon work diligently on the yard.

We went shopping this afternoon, and didn't realize that I have my own action figure.

So I moved today. Ok, not a big move, because I only moved from downstairs to upstairs.

But now that I've moved upstairs, my bedroom is only 10 feet from my office. That's kind of lame. At least before I had to go to a whole different floor to go to work.
